We are very excited to announce that on June 12, 2012 Gov. Parnell signed legislation allowing FVCS to conduct the Alyeska Snow Classic, a great fundraising step that will allow us to continue to provide programs that enrich our community. Why an Alyeska Snow Classic? We used to be one of many community schools in Alaska before funding was cut. Since FVCS became its own non-profit about 7 years ago we have had to raise funds to keep our doors open and our great programs available to our community. People will be able to buy tickets for a chance to guess the depth of snow at a measuring devise on top of Mt. Alyeska. The Alyeska Snow Classic is expected to be an important fundraiser for FVCS and will help us become more self-sufficient. Many thanks to Rep. Mike Hawker and staff for assisting getting this legislation passed, Alyeska Resort for its support, and to Board Members Lynne’ Doran and Rebecca Reichlin for the dedication and tenacity to take this idea from conception to completion!
